Happy Birthday To You!

It is late….I know, but on Saturday, July 23, my mother celebrated her 77th birthday. We spent the day wandering around Decatur and Athens trying out some neat little fabric shops (Willow Tree Fabrics), quilting and sewing corners (Patches and Stitches) and stumbled upon some unexpected surprises.
Take the candy store we 'bumped' into, Morgan Price in Decatur, which was founded in 1987 by Mary Morgan. She started selling mail-order candy, when she began making praline candy from her father’s secret recipe. The first local store opened in 1991, and is serving up some great candy, along with gifts and gift baskets. They even make sugar free goodies; this place will definitely stay at the top of my Great Shops for Christmas.

We stopped off for a bite to eat at Bob Gibson’s BBQ, which is famous for their overstuffed potatoes. We opted to share a plate as eating all of that food would have just slowed us down!
Big Bob's Birthday Lunch

We made a few other pit stops along the way before heading back to the house. My partners in crime (husband and daughter) were out making the rounds to pick up the cake; candles etc. and have it back at the house in time for our arrival.

It was off to dinner with the family, though we really didn't have all the much room as Big Bob Gibson's will fill you up! Back home for cake ( picture to come later...sorry it is on the other camera, which is in the shop).

We had a great day and we celebrated a Great Lady! Happy Birthday Mom!
