Fourteen Candles!!!!!

It is impossible to believe our "child" is fourteen years old. Where did the time go?  This year her birthday was a little more "low key" than last year (remember the pink limo, spa day outing and such for the big 13). Don't get me wrong she still celebrated in style, with a shopping trip on the Saturday before her birthday and all the gifts and presents she received for her birthday.

Goodies from the "Z" Family

My new fried "Coconut" from "A"
Her Aunt 'P' and Uncle 'S' sent her a personalized necklace, engaged with the nickname her Aunt 'P' has bestowed upon her "Red Headed Spider Monkey".  The "Z" Family, sent her a package, which contained lots of special goodies and a personalized birthday bear and buddy from next door made her a special Build-A-Bear for her b-day, which she promptly named Coconut.

Of course once can always expect a little excitement with this kid!  Time for the cake, which we had made from our favorite grocery store Publix.  It was a basket weave design with pastel flowers on top.  So here is how this went

Cake before the candles are lit

Cake all a blaze!

Make a wish...........................................

Ackkkkkkkk, what is that smell is my hair on fire?
Does anyone smell something?

Only our child could manage to Synge her hair while blowing out her candles.  This gives an entirely new meaning to "Flaming Red Head" hee hee!  Once all the commotion had settled and the lovely scent of burnt hair had dissipated we all settled down for a piece of cake and ice cream! Lordly, Lordly next year she will be the Big '15', I wonder what type of excitement that will bring?
