Shop Till You Drop!!!!
Our renovation efforts continue and this month our focus is on finishing our family room. Two weeks ago we found a rug, which was perfect for the space. We had already purchased one very contemporary Flexsteel chair (see my older posts) and we needed a few more pieces of furniture to complete the room. So this morning my mother and I took a trip with our friend and neighbor to our favorite furniture store Feagans, which is located in Kentucky. Our neighbor had never been and this place is so off the beaten path, nestled in a small country town, that you would never think a store of this caliber or size would be located there.
It takes about 1&1/2 hours to get there, but I feel it is worth the drive. They have a better selection than the furniture stores in Nashville and their prices are out of this world...can't be beat! This trip was prompted by the need to order our new Flexsteel couch and chair and Mom went to order her new queen size scroll top bed and two chest for her bedroom.

I don't know about you, but I can't just go into a furniture store without browsing around. So, while I was there I decided to scout around for a new dining room table and chairs as my husband took our existing table and chairs to Alabama to outfit his apartment. As luck would have it (
maybe not as it effects my pocketbook) I found a a dining room table I liked by Legacy and while the chairs, which accompanied the set were a little deep for me I was able to find an upholstered slipper back dining chair in a fabric that went perfect with our wall color and looked like it was made for the table. The price could not be beat, but I wasn't sure if I should purchase it or wait. My mother and friend were chanting "
do it...do it...do it" so as you can guess I succumbed and added the table, along with four upholstered chairs and two wood chairs to my growing tab! My friend snapped photos of them, I will have to post those a little later once I have the opportunity to get a copy from her.
I found a great hall chest to replaced our weathered hall tree. In addition, I had decided to replace our existing end tables, which were 2ft wide with new smaller tables that measure only 1ft across. Mom found two that were a perfect match to our existing bookcase so you know they went home with us today.

This is a photo of our existing end table with lamp. The photo underneath is of the new mini end table.

New chair and new mini end table.

In addition to the furniture I ordered the curtain panels for the family room, which Mom and I found at JCPenny's they will arrive in about (2) weeks. So, it looks like we are well on our way to completing this room that is one down and three more to go! I was so exhausted from "spending" all that money that I had to come home and take a nap! Now that brings a whole new meaning to "
Shop Till You Drop!"
