Knock Knock...who is there? Wood

Knock Knock....who is there? Wood actually 2800lbs to be exact! Today, our new hardwood arrived via Averitt Express. It has been on order and shipped out late last week from the factory. Of course Joe our contractor was on site early this morning to begin the demo of our existing hardwood veneer as well as our old carpet. Here are some photos I took as they work unfolded! View from the front door. The existing hardwood veneer has been removed. The former "formal" living room is to the right of the picture. It had carpet in it, which has been stripped as well. Dining room, minus carpet but sporting a new two tone paint job. Yep, it was done by Joe! Meet Joe, he is taking a break in this shot. See the French Doors to his right? This use to be a large open walkway, which we had him close in with white diamond patterned glass French Doors, they are beautiful even if I say so myself!
Project/Craft/Office...minus carpet, sporting a new paint job along with tons of new ceiling recessed lighting. It is like turning on the "sun" when you flip on the light switch!
Aerial view from the top of the front staircase. It is amazing how quickly they were able to remove all the old hardwood. Check out all those brads/staples, they didn't come up near as easily!
What is remaining of our old carpet and hardwood veneer. This will be making its way to the dump tomorrow.
The Averitt Express truck arrived around 1:30pm today. The guy was super nice and had the wood unloaded in absolutely no time.
Joe helped the guy guide the wood the truck lift. This lift took all the work out of unloading this shipment.
Up the driveway they go....this is soooo exciting! I never thought I would be this excited about flooring, but it has happened and I am totally "ok" with that fact!
As strange as it seems taking the wood into the house via the window was the easiest way to get it inside. Tomorrow is a new day and they will be back to finish the demo on the living room and bathroom.
The wood has to acclimate, so they won't begin the installation until sometime next week. In the meantime, I had to close all my windows right in the middle of this beautiful spring weather and turn on the air to help the wood "adjust". I just told myself it wood be so worth it in the end woodn't you!
