I have been promising our daughter a new bicycle as a reward for maintaining straight "A's" last school year. In addition, her current bike is way too small for her feet practically drag the ground when she attempts to ride it so, off to the Bicycle Center we went yesterday to scout out a new bike. We weren't in the store (5) minutes before she spotted a Cannondale F9 mountain bike, which was hot pink, orange, silver and white, she had to have it the other 100+ bikes in the store ceased to exist upon spying this one.
We were in luck, it was a petite framed bike and fit her perfectly. Don our sales guy put on a silver water bottle cage, kick stand, rear strobe light and comped her a white polar cap insulated bottle to boot! In addition, he fitted her for a new helmet as the ones she had at home were getting to be a little on the small side.
While waiting around for them to complete their accessory run through the store, I spied a Cannondale comfort fit bike. Now, currently I own a Schwinn, but the handle bars will not adjust and it is difficult to ride for any length of time as it kills my back. Don offered me the opportunity to "test" this beauty out and as you can probably guess.......SOLD! So we went for one bike and ended up leaving with two ( story of my life). We both have new helmets and while I passed on all the other bells and whistles, I was very happy with our purchase and arranged to pick them up on Saturday.
Last night my daughter said to me "Mom, I can hardly wait to get our new bikes can you? It is almost like Christmas all over again!" We were up early and off to the bike store to pick them up before noon. We have already taken them for a test spin. It will take a bit of time for her to get accustomed to changing gears while moving as this is the first gear bike she has owned. In addition it is bigger than her other bikes, but I have no doubts she will be willing to do the time to get it right.
As for me, about (10) minutes into our ride at high noon, I was ready to pass out. So much for all my aerobic workouts at the gym. Well one thing is for certain, I will have no excuses not to ride as I am sure my daughter won't permit me to skip out on any future training sessions. Pray for me....I am going to need it!

Excellent!! Scary to say I usually ride 16 miles a day or 45 minutes on the exercise bike at the gym. I still get worn out when I ride my regular bike on the road. UGH.
