So, we are turning one of our spare bedrooms into a media/sitting room for our daughter. Before you say.."Ah how nice is that", it is for our own benefit as it allows us to 'reclaim' our family room & TV, when she has guest over. This beats the heck out of being 'banished' to our bedroom to spend hours on a bench waiting for the 'guest' to leave..ack!
I really started about this whole idea backwards. The room had recently been painted yellow and in an effort to avoid repainting the walls, I built a color palette around the wall color. Ummmm, probably should have thought about that a little more.
I was thinking sunny yellow, white daybed, I would use beach colors. It was the summer they were readily available, but alas not so much. We purchased white material with a beach blue and green octagons. I needed (2) side chairs, how hard could it be to find blue, or printed chairs.. answer HARD! Evidently, those colors are no longer in (story of my life, I am either ahead or behind the color curve). So, I purchased two custom upholstered chairs (pic of one included), thought ok, now it is all coming together. Then, our daughter announced she didn't want the day bed and wanted a couch instead.. Really! So, we were off on the hunt for a neutral couch, that was another fun filled few weeks. Alas, I found a beach color (sand & white) love seat and I purchased it.
Mom and I were out and about at one of our favorite stores Home Goods and I finally found a media console for the room and it was available in white! Yippee, I called the hubby and had him bring the truck over to pick it up.
It was HEAVY..(naturally), but we were in luck. My nephew arrived that evening ( a great surprise) and was able to help the ole' man lug it up those (20)+ stairs.
So, now we have two chairs, a love seat, a media console in place. They (hubby and nephew) installed a new fan, which is walnut and pewter and looks great. So, now I have to get the TV mounted on the wall, the curtains completed and the rods up, then we should be ready to roll. There is always room for some finishing touches, pictures and accessories, but as long as she has connectivity, we will have our living room back and that is the best new ever!!!!!
