Songs of the Night

The other night our daughter wasn't feeling well. It was midnight, and she came down to tell me she couldn't fall asleep. Don't worry it turned out to be a bad case of indigestion, totally related to what she consumed over the course of the day and what she calls a snack.
Here is your snapshot...tuna fish, crackers, two slices of pepperoni pizza, Dill pickle chips, uncooked muffin batter, grilled chicken sandwich a whole tomato, shrimp ramen and a chocolate bar. How this kid still weighs under 94lbs is beyond me and TOTALLY UNFAIR...but I digress so back to my story.
She comes downstairs says, I am not feeling well, can't sleep, TV off, have school tomorrow it is midnight what to do? So, I said "I can sing to you?" "Do what was her response?" "I can sing to you just like I did when you were a baby all of your favorite go to sleep songs." Now, for those of you who know me, you know I have a hard time carrying a tune unless it is in a bucket with a handle, but babies never mind your pitch and this led to many hours of night time serenades.
So upstairs we went, and I warmed up the ole' voice pipes and a trip down memory lane we look. I started off with Daisy Daisy then came K-k-k Katy Beautiful Katy, followed by How much is that doggie in the window, coupled with Down in the valley, Skinamarinka Dinky Dink, I've been working on the railroad and finally Bushel and a Peck!
I believe she was asleep by the second chorus of Down in the Valley ( possibly out of self defense), but I just kept on singing. It was a nice walk down memory lane for me and it goes to show you when you aren't feeling well you are never too old for your mother to sing you to sleep!
