Ewwww...Ick....I found a tick!

We recently had our yard aerated and seeded for the fall. I don't know if you have been keeping up with the weather in our neck of the country but it has been "dry as a bone", therefore it has required I spend a good portion of my day running the hose and sprinkler around the front and back yards in a futile attempt to give the grass seeds a fighting chance.
Tonight I was setting the sprinkler for the last time before heading up to the bonus room to pay bills (yuck!). I dropped my pencil and when I bent down to pick it up the picture of the guy in the corner was crawling off of my pant leg (insert ewwwww here)!
I wasn't sure if it was a tick so I asked my Mother and got a "yep, it is a tick". I tried to smash it with the eraser but it didn't budge. I had to take it outside and give it a couple of good swift wacks with a rock to get through the hard little scale (sorry in advance to any animal/insect lovers).
I "googled" it because I had to know what kind of tick it was. As it turns out it is a Lone Star Tick, one which typically is not a carrier or Lyme or Rocky Mountain spotted fever, though it can give you a nasty bulls eye rash along with a headache and fatigue.
I told my husband as received this quick retort "You need to go and buy some boots"...."Boots?" I said..."Yep, because you are now a Lone Star Chick with her Lone Star Tick!" Wow...didn't see that one coming!
