We have been remodeling the majority of our downstairs since September 2009. We started with the kitchen (I know I am waaaayyyy behind on posting those pictures) and have moved into the family room, dining room and formal living room. We decided to convert our very unused formal living room to a project/craft room. Joe our WONDERFUL contractor has installed frosted privacy french doors, recessed lighting in the ceiling and painted it a beautiful shade of wasabi green and placed a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling.
He has sent the plans out for the cabinet layout and of course I am still gathering prices for the hardwood floors. In the meantime, one half of the room still contains living room stuff and the other half we have tried to pull together into a "make shift" sewing/craft/project area. It has been a feat trying to locate all of our "stuff", my scrapbook and stamping paraphernalia is all over as is Mom's and our daughter's sewing, quilting and misc craft equipment.
So, when I suggested Mom create embroidered valentine gift bags for our daughter to give to her special friends it almost sent Mom into a panic. Slowly but surely she located what she would need to start the project, machine, table, material etc, but once she had it all in the room with her she was off and running. I have posted pictures of the "Be Mine" valentine bags she created. We stuffed them with candy and I created hand stamped valentine's day cards for our daughter to give out as well. Needless to say they were a big hit with her friends, and I even managed to score a few to give out to friends at work.
Mom has created additional bags with sayings like U Rock * Hugs * Best Buds * Too Cool * U R Great. As I type she is working away on some new bibs for a few of our friends who have little valentines that will need something special too!
It is always fun to watch the delight on the kids faces when you deliver that something special made just for them.
I am waiting until she has tied the last knot on the last bag before I spring my St. Patrick's Day idea on her I will need the luck of the irish to get that one past her!
