1150...........that means what?

That is the number of shingles it took to complete the roof of our daughter's dollhouse. My husband purchased a Victorian dollhouse for our daughter approximately (1) year ago. It was a "must" have purchase as she had been salivating over them for months on end at Hobby Lobby. So armed with a 40% off coupon they went to Hobby Lobby and came back with one of the largest knocked down projects I have ever laid eyes on.
He took it out of the box and got a good long look at all the unfinished pieces and went ....whoa! You know how good intentions go.....and ours went the way of a year with the dollhouse propped upon a wall. Thank goodness for good friends, did I say 'good' I meant WONDERFUL friends. Mr. Mike and Ms. Lisa came to our rescue and upon several days of hearing me whine and beg they offered to put it together for fun!
As you can guess it took several months for all the pieces and parts to come together. Mr. Mike discovered there were several parts, which were missing in action, which required he actually mill the replacement pieces (did I mention they are WONDERFUL friends) such skill this man has! Ms. Lisa said it took (9) hours of straight work to complete the shingles. Yes, she counted everyone of them and that is how she knew if took 1150 to complete the roof top of this gem!
We received a text message this afternoon alerting us that they dollhouse was completed and ready for delivery. Can you believe they put it together and then offered curbside delivery to boot....(did I mention they are WONDERFUL friends) it doesn't get any better than this! Our daughter was squealing as she could hardly wait to see the finished project.
The inside of the house remains a blank slate. Our daughter wanted to paint the bedrooms custom colors and had definite ideas about wallpaper. There are plenty of fine detail projects, which remain to be completed. This is bound to keep her and her Dad busy over Christmas break, as he still needs to add the electrical system and flooring.
A big THANK YOU to Lisa and Mike for their hard work, it is a gift that she (we) will cherish for years to come!
