Bedhead...the hairdo of choice!

Well the influenza has finally struck our household, with our daughter being the first to succumb to the nasty virus. We were proactive, we took her to her doctor to obtain her flu vaccination several weeks ago. While seasonal influenza is still rather scarce in our neck of the woods, however H1N1 is out and about in full force. She started off her Tuesday with a 99.9 degree fever and it got worse from there. We contacted her doctor who phoned in a Rx for Tamiflu with instructions to start it immediately. Last night she spiked a fever just shy of 104 degrees talk about scary! A quick call and message to our friend Doc to find out what I could do to lower the temp and if I was ok to give Tylenol in conjunction with Motrin worked as we were successful at lowering it to around 102. (Insert a big THANK YOU to Doc for his calming advice and willingness to help a panicked mother!) Today she has a terrible cough, she is still running fever and she looks like a sad droopy eyed basset hound. Of course, I am making daily trips to her school to pick up her missed assignments, like she really feels like doing piles of homework in her current state. In fact she told her Dad on the phone tonight that she thinks she hasn't brushed her hair in three days. This would make bedhead the hairdo of choice! So tonight we will keep a watch over her to make sure we are doing everything to keep the fever down. In the meantime, I will pray that the Tamiflu will begin to take hold and we will see her feeling better soon!
