Going to "Wash" that Ugly right out of that room!

It has been 4+ months since we embarked on our 'adventure' to make over our laundry room and my husband's study.  As you will my nephew did a lions share of projects while he was here this fall, which led me to the idea to 'finish' the laundry room.

So, if you are one of the few who are not familiar with the tale of our home, let me condense it for you.  Low cost bidder, former Indian owners, build it quick, build it as inexpensively as possible and turn it for as much money as possible (3) years later, when he is transferred back to Michigan.

Needless to say, we have spent the better part of our two years here neutralizing the wall colors ( it was all a lovely shade of pink and purples).  Correcting the electrical overloads, to include chasing down wires which were live but seemingly went to nothing etc.

I decided on the laundry room because how much time and money could it take to make this area look good.  I mean, I spend the majority of my time in it, but really it is a  rather small area.

Well here is the 'laundry' list thus far ( no pun intended ;-)

Jack hammer hole in floor to add vent for dryer, as it was used as a prayer room vs. laundry room.
Paint the walls wheat color
Have prayer niches stripped out of the wall, supports added and new dry wall hung
Have molding made to match custom molding NOBODY carries in town and the mill work company is no longer in business
Cap off plumbing for industrial utility sink ( it was way ugly)
Trace live wire protruding from the floor and pull into wall plug and up for under cabinet lights
Have green marble tile jack hammered up ( it was put down with concrete...I promise)
Lay new tile floor, wood grain
Have custom cabinets (upper and lower) built and installed

Here are some of the before pictures

After Pictures - new flooring and cabinets installed:

I absolutely LOVE the new cabinets and they way the colors blend so well with the flooring.  They are solid wood with a cream color and espresso stain and bronze with copper highlights hardware!

Still remaining to be done.........................

Granite counter top.  We hope to find a remnant this weekend
Install under cabinet counter lights
Change over head fixture out from gold to bronze

As my husband reminds me it is a marathon and not a sprint.  Stay tuned for more pictures as the progress continues.  In the meantime, this will be the first room I take anyone to as I am so proud.  In fact, I think I will eat my dinner in there tonight!
