Congratulations to the Kid!

Congratulations are in order for Miss "O", who auditioned for a coveted spot on the BJHS Winter Guard team.  We received confirmation last night that she was successful!

At the end of her ninth grade year she tried out and was selected to be a member of the BJHS  Fall Color Guard.  The color guard is an extension of the marching band and as such they were responsible for learning  all the marching and maneuvering involved in the band routines, along with a study of technique in flag, rifle, saber, and dance.

Winter Guard is a competitive extension of the Marching/Fall Guard.  This group rehearses and competes outside of normal school hours.  They travel to competitions, which will take place in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky.  Selection is by audition only, and Miss "O" was one of (15) selected through auditions yesterday evening.

They learned a group routine last week during winter guard camp, and she had to create a (1) minute solo routine to a song of her choice.  Her routine contained dancing, sabre, rifle and flag work.  She choreographed it to Sky Fall the theme song for the new James Bond movie.

She was so thrilled when she read the announcement off the school website.  We could hear her screaming all the way in the back of the house.  Congratulations Kiddo, we are so very proud of you!
