The dates for this years Panoply Arts Festival was April 27 - 29, 2012. Tickets are only $5 per day or $10 per weekend and children 12 and under receive free admission. What makes this year so special is two fold - last year Panoply had to be cancelled as Tornadoes ripped through Alabama destroying many homes, business and lives. A year to the day of the most horrific tornado outbreak in US History, we celebrate "30" years of Panoply in Huntsville.
The Festival is chocked full of visual arts, dance, music, arts & crafts, food vendors you name it. In addition, it was a first for our daughters dance academy who performed for the very first time at the festival. Our daughter was part of (2) tap numbers but they also featured their point classes as well as their ballroom dancing. I have included a few shots of the festival and of her dance routine.
Snapped this shot of her entering the festival. Check out that Funky dancer dancer shirt - geez!
The theme for their routines was based on the evolution of dance through Alabama History. The first was the point showcase, which featured a salute to Americana. "
'O's' first dance routine was based the 1920's Andrew Sisters Bugle Boy Theme.
The next dance was based on Appalachian Mining
Then there was the Waltz performed by the ballroom dancing class
Here is a group shot of all that performed that evening, and though it was just a small component of her dancers, they all had a great time showcasing the studio!
