Can you spell what?

Our daughter loves her honors biology class and it is all due to her great teacher Mrs. "W". This woman has a passion for teaching and actually gets a thrill out of watching her students learn (imagine that in a public school)!

In preparation for the first chapter test, Mrs. "W" launched a game of biology jeopardy. So, she tells the class she is going to ask a question or give an answer and they are to raise their hand to provide the correct response. The student who gets their hand up first is the one who will be called upon to answer the question. If they answer it correctly, they can ‘bump’ another classmate out of the competition. They were off and running and the kid says “Mom, hands were flying all over the place.” She said “I was rushing to get my hand up, because I knew the answers.” She said every time she raised her hand and got an answer right her teacher would say “That is correct Miss S, you may proceed.” That is when our charming child said “and I would bump another one from the round!” (no competitive bone in this kids body.) Well it got down to a few students standing and then there were two, you guessed it our kid and her classmate. Then Mrs. W hit them with the last question, what is the full name for DNA? Up went the hands with Miss Thing edging out her classmate. “Deoxyribonucleic Acid” she proclaimed “Yes you are right Miss S.” then BAM!BAM! she got hit with the bonus question “Spell that Miss S”…. (this is when she thought to herself…you want me to spell what?) The rest of the class turn to the other guy standing and said “J” you might as well sit down you are through and out of our kid's mouth she spit “D-E-O-X-Y-R-I-B-O-N-U-C-L-E-I-C A-C-I-D!” Booyah….you are the winner! Her group broke out clapping and chanted “That’s our Group Leader!” It is official she is a science geek…bless her heart! I can hardly say that word let alone spell it. It was a good day for all in Honors Biology; I can hardly wait to see what the rest of the semester brings!
