Spirit Week

SPIRIT WEEK
September 13, 2010 through September 17, 2010
This week was full of homecoming and spirit activities for the intermediate and upper school. The picture to the left was taken on Monday, September 13, which was pajama day. Our daughter loved the fact that she could "technically" roll out of the bed and just comb her hair and head off to school. Of course, no self-respecting 13 year old girl is going to do such a thing. So, it was out of the bed only to change into a carefully color coordinated pink pj ensemble for the occasion!
Tuesday, September 14 - Twin Day
Our daughter spent Monday evening creating matching t-shirts for her and her girlfriend, as they were going to school as "twins". They wore these masterpieces, along with the same jeans, colored socks and hair in side pony tails.
Wednesday, September 15 - Character Day For character day, I had convinced Miss Thing to go all decked out as a Roaring 20's Flapper, she even had a sequined headband complete with a feather though it is "missing" in this photo. Upon coming home from school, I asked how everyone liked her costume...this was her response. "The teachers thought it was great, everyone of them knew what I was my friends not so much!" "When they asked me who I was suppose to be I told them a Flapper. They said, what is a Flipper? I told them I was a Flapper not a Flipper and it was a dancer. So, the rest of the day I was called an exotic dancer, a stripper, a hooker and the like." My response "I am very concerned about the amount of money we are paying for this private school education, when no one knows what a Flapper is...hmmm!"
Thursday, September 16 - Color Wars
Every year grades 6 though 12 are assigned a color for the annual spirit week color wars. This year 8th grade was Hot Pink which was wonderful in our daughter's eyes. The 8th grade was assigned the middle school upstairs and downstairs locker areas. They were asked to bring in all things pink to decorate the area. Our daughter took in balloons and streamers.
As you can see by the picture, she did a great job on herself as well. We spent Thursday morning (crack of dawn I might add) spray painting her hair hot pink. Do you know how much hair paint it takes to even begin to make a dent on that red head of hers? She wore pink eyeshadow, pink nail polish, her pink color wars shirt, a pink head band with a pink flower as a necklace, pink sweat pants, pink socks and topped it off with pink lip glass The second shot is a picture of our daughter with one of her fella cheerleaders "A". She is an absolute pink freak so this day was right up her alley as well!
Friday, September 17 - Blue and Gold Day!
On Friday, the entire student body was encourage to dress in blue and gold to show their support and cougar pride. For our daughter and her squad members it was a chance to wear and show off their new uniform and sweat jacket!
It was a great week and while it made for very early mornings to ensure her ensemble was complete and we were out the door on time, the pictures are priceless as to are the memories!
