Tooth Fairy Cometh 21st Century Style!
Talking about starting your summer off with a "bang"! Our daughter had an appointment with the oral surgeon yesterday to have (5) teeth extracted in preparation for her braces.
This is her second visit to the oral surgeon, the first trip resulted in the removal of (4) baby molars, which refused to turn loose on their own. The down side to that visit was she didn't weigh enough to be put to sleep, so she had to suffer through the removal with only the assistance of some "laughing" gas. She summed up the entire procedure as far from funny!
While she was glad she didn't have to "suffer" through the procedure in a semi-awake mode, she was a little apprehensive about receiving an I.V for the first time. Dr. Ellis is great and he assured her everything would be fine. As he was "chatting" her up he gave her a little stick to numb the injection site before inserting the IV. Upon seeing it in her arm she mumbled "Oh goodness and her eyes rolled to the back of her head". I had to touch her on her leg and tell her not to pass out....hysterical!
So once the IV was in place and he was adding her "sleepy" medicine, I snapped this quick picture, kissed her on her forehead and headed to the waiting room. It took about (20) minutes from start to finish and Dr. Ellis was calling for me to pick her up.
We got her home and in bed, that was a feat as she insisted she could walk only to buckle at the knees upon exiting the car. My mom and I carried her into the house and promptly put her in the bed. She spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping and by nightfall she was up and about already feeling like her ole' self. In honor of her procedure I rented the movie "Tooth Fairy" with Dwayne "the rock" Johnson, it was a cute flick and had both of us laughing!
So another hurdle cleared the next stop is braces, which are scheduled to for June 22. In the meantime, she should enjoy the next few days as her meals are to be soft and for her she has decided that will consist of mostly ice cream, sherbet and jello....yum!
