Ok, so technically we were only (1) full day into the hardwood renovation, but I am here to tell you I have never seen so much dust in all my day. Upon entering our bedroom, I noticed what appeared to be an inch of dust on our sleigh bed; furniture and ceiling fans….no wonder I was having hard time breathing.
In an effort to facilitate the acclimation of the wood, we had to close up the house on the first day and turn on the air. Well let me say this did nothing to assist us with dust removal instead just trapping it where it landed.
So armed with a vacuum and some Murphy’s oil soap in hand I went to cleaning that night around 10:30pm. I wasn’t going to attempt to sleep with all the “dust” hanging around. The next day I planned a full on assault as I broke out my husband’s industrial strength shop vac. I vacuumed all the floors, trim and anything else the wand may land on. It was an interesting week; I spent many an hour cleaning up all I have to say is “dust be damn, when I have a shop vac in my hand!”
