Maybe I did it on the Luge?

I don't know about you, but for the last two weeks I have been glued to the T.V. at night watching the Olympics. I love to watch the Olympics be it the summer or winter games, I have looked forward to their arrival since I was a kid.
I know this is "dating" myself, but when I was a kid and the Olympics rolled around that was all that was on the television. When you woke up they were on, they played throughout the day and you sat glued to the set during prime time viewing hours. I remember staying up for the weekend recap as it was the last thing that played before the National Anthem and the station sign off. Yep, you read right I am old enough to remember a time when we only had five stations and they did not air (24) hours a day.
Today you can catch them almost (24) hours a day on a slew of channels some live broadcast, while others are delayed presentations. I have a DVR and right now as I type I have about (4) days worth in memory, which have captured some of our favorite sports such as short track, bobsled, ice skating just to name a few. Well the other night as my daughter was getting ready for bed I looked at her foot only to be caught off guard as the bottom of her heel was black and blue. I said "What happen to your foot, what did you do?" Of course I got the standard "preteen" answer..."Huh, what, what are you talking about?" I said "Your foot well your heel to be exact it is black and blue did you hit it or get hurt at school?" she looked down at her heel and said "hum don't know." I said "does it hurt?" she said "no". I said "surely you can remember what you did to cause such a horrific bruise on your foot." This is when she piped up with "maybe I did it on the luge."
Luge what luge, the last time I checked we did not live in an area where a luge would be used as any standard form of transportation so how she would be riding upon a luge was beyond me. I said "What are you talking about luge?" That is when she told me that they were holding a form of middle school Olympics and she was representing Germany (no secret based on our last name how she was assigned to that country) and was part of the luge team In fact she said "I am one of the best Luger's they have." Of course this prompted my question "What pray tell are you using for a luge?" she told me they had flat boards, which had four wheels attached to them and they had to slide down a course, which had been created with cones in the gym. "Oh....how did you do? By the looks of your foot did you have a collision?" She said "We did really well, I took bronze it was a good day for Team Germany."
I told her I was really glad to hear her country had prevailed, then I asked to inspect her heel from a closer position. Upon looking at it I asked "what shoes did you wear to school today didn't you wear boots?" she confirmed she had worn her black suede boots. I told her to get me a wet cloth and I commenced to scrubbing her heel. Well as you might have guessed her bruise came off with a little "elbow" grease. It seems her black and blue heel did not materialize as a result of a tragic luge accident, but instead a case of boot rub. Glad to know all is well for Team Germany's main Luger!
