I had a few things I needed to put in our daughter's play house the other day, and guess what I came across? Flora.....now I am sure you are asking yourself "Who is Flora?" Flora is the injured moth our daughter rescued a week or so ago.
Flora got caught up in the broom that our daughter was using to sweep the porch. So, in an effort to help Flora mend her broken wings, she decided to create a healing room for her. The room consisted of a small mason jar, with a few strategically placed pebbles, some grass clippings, a few sprigs of Lantana and a soda cap full of water, in case she became thirsty.
Flora remained in her "healing" room for about (3) days, which was located on my dresser (lucky me). Well, I am sadden to report that Flora did not make it and when our daughter discovered this, she decided to hold a memorial service in honor of Flora.
I am not sure when she actually planned to hold the service, as I sort of lost track of the events. Now, back to my trip to the play house. I went to the table to put up some pens and look what I found.
Imagine my surprise to find a neatly crafted casket for Flora made out of craft sticks ( Popsicle sticks for you none crafters), with Flora's name hand written on the top of the box. She and her friend "J" had laid lantana flowers on the top and hand wrote RIP notes.
After a conversation with our daughter I understand that she and her two friends had a full blown service for Flora. She said she was "sad" to see Flora go, but she knew she would not be happy with broken wings.
Our child is crazy about all types of animals and insects. Isn't it neat to know even the smallest of GOD's creatures are worthy of a loving farewell. Kids....they do some amazing things!
