School is out and summer is in full swing, I get that! Our daughter has already settled into her summertime routine, which consist of relaxed morning awakenings, leisure lunches and lots of time to spend at the pool or in the yard with her friends.
What comes along with all of these leisure time activities you ask......MESS! Yep, mess and more mess. Shoes, they are all over like they magically "explode" off of her feet the moment she enters a room usually landing in opposing directions. Bags, purses, jackets, balls, super soaker water guns, magazines, DS....all strown about in a breezy sort of way as if to announce, I am not bound by the "winter" school time rules. It is enough to drive me and my OCD over the edge!
So allow me to replay or in this case type for you a conversation we had in the kitchen just this evening.
Me: Hey, is this your glass and plate on the table
Kid: hmmmmm?
Me: Well...is it?
Kid: Yep
Me: Did you think to put it in the sink or to wash it?
Kid: Oh, I forgot
Me: Well, now I have reminded you....you know we don't have any maid on staff to clean up after you. It is your responsibility to make sure you dishes find their way to the sink and then to wash them.
Kid: What happen to Edna ?
Me: Edna who?
Kid: You know Edna, does Edna not live here anymore?
Me: Who are you talking about?
Kid: You know Edna the maid
Me: Well kid, I hate to break it to you but we are in the midst of a slumping economy and unfortunately ( for you) we had to let Edna go, so therefore it will be just you to clean up after yourself this summer.
Kid: Ah man....I am really going to miss her!
Me: Me too.....Me too!
