It is Friday night, and on Friday nights you always get to answer that magical question "What is for dinner?"
Well, if you are eating with us in the good ole' U.S.A it would have been pasta or a burger or something to that effect on a Friday night. However, if you were hangin' with my husband who is half way around the world, you would have your choice of Korean "soup du jour", which in this case could amount to anything from fresh fish pepper soup to my all time favorite menu item..
(insert drum roll here please) Intestine Pepper Soup. Go ahead say it I did.....ewwwwwww!
Now I love Bizarre Foods ( the show that is) just as much as the next person. I never seem to get bored watching Andrew Zimmerman buy, touch and eat things that I would never go anywhere near in a million years. So this led me to ask my husband the dreaded question "Did you eat any of it?" to which he responded "Heck no!" whew, I am glad to see he hasn't lost all of his senses.
He said he half expected to see the Bizarre Food guy turn the corner at any minute, as there was some really strange stuff on the menus. He assured me he had stuck with what he felt to be a safe choice, which was a spicy beef soup. He said he did eat a dish, which was akin to chicken in a pot, but the chicken in this case looked more like an underfed Cornish Rock hen. He said by the time he drank the broth, he kept looking around to find the chicken, but then realized it was gone, so much for hearty portions.
So if you are the bold and daring type and the intestine soup seems to be calling you to give it a try, I say go for it! As for this good ole' southern girl, well I will stick to more of our hometown favorites and save the taste testing of bizarre foods to those of you who are just a tad more adventurous than me!
