Joe Snow Memorial Fishing Tournament

My husband and his buddy set out early like "break" of dawn early Saturday heading into KY for a fishing tournament. It was the Joe Snow Memorial Bass Tournament, held to benefit the two young sons of a paramedic who was killed two years ago in the line of duty. Joe Snow was attempting to rescue two young boys two years ago, who came up missing when they went swimming in a rain swollen creek.
He spent most of the day preparing his rods and reels along with his stash of snacks also know as "hoagie bait". This included 5lbs of my Mom's homemade chicken salad, pretzels, crackers, bananas, Pepsi, sprite and of course the two critical food components Hershey's chocolate with almonds and Reese peanut butter cups. Evidently, you are unable to catch a fish without the aid of chocolate...something I can thoroughly understand!
At 2:41am he was off and running as they had quite a drive in front of them. They had to be there early to get a good "launching off spot". The forecast for the day "hot" and "windy.
I received a call from him around 3:40 that afternoon with a run down on the days events. They managed to catch (5) fish in total, though none of them were over the size necessary to keep, which was 15 inches. The first fish was caught by my husband and came in at a whopping "10"
inches. In addition to the five fish, they managed to catch a few other critters as well. While Mr. H posed for a picture with his fish, my husband watched a 4ft+ snake jump from the brush and whiz right behind him...eeks! In addition, my husband got a great video of a copperhead, who was swimming by the boat. Mr. H took the necessary care to ensure it wouldn't be hitching a ride in their boat, by slapping at it with his rod.....Men! Check the video out, it is at the bottom of this posting.
The second and third fish were caught once again by my "angler" they were 10" and 13" respectively.
Mr. "H" finally got into the game, landing the fourth fish, which was 11" inches in length.
My husband caught the last fish, which happen to be largest of the day coming in at 14.5". Unfortunately, it was still 1/2 inch short of making the cut....bummer!
Copperhead video......this thing was a little too close for comfort!
